SKUNK-2 US- 0!

So last night while David ran to work for a few minutes, i'm sitting on the floor singing with Sophia and Charles, as I sit there i'm thinking its so nice to sit here and having Snickers not barking! (which seems to be really unsual that he's not barking) So as I sit there I realize "WOW" it smells like skunk! I should go check on snickers! I get out there and see a big SKUNKS tail! So I run back in the house to get a flash light so I could see, and sure enough there was a skunk with its big ol tail straight up in the air! And my stupid dog is within 2 feet of him! Not barking at all! So I run back in the house again thinking I need to get my phone and ask David what I should do!

Because are gate was closed and the skunk and snickers were both in it and the skunk was next to the entrance! So as I go inside to grab my phone I look out with my flash light and sure enough the skunk turned its butt on where I just was and was face to face with snickers. Well I ran back outside and extremly thankful that David was just pulling into the drive way! So I run towards the car Wailing my arms! haha David thought something terrible happened to one of our kids the way I was acting. He has his window down and before he stopped the car I was able to yell SKUNK! So he gets out and starts chucking rocks at the skunk. (smart IDEA!) and he finally runs off!

Well Snickers was sprayed I don't know how many times, but its smelled like 100 times worse then last time! I thankfully wasn't sprayed but our house and our fence were. So I ran down to the family dollar to get more candles and smelly things to try and make our house smell good again. While I was gone David put a leash on snickers and turned on the water, Snickers must have remembered what was coming next because he wiggled off his collar and ran down the road!

So we were thankful we had more stuff to make up another skunk solution, Hydrogen Peroxide baking soda and dish soap! Pretty sure all our measurements were off for it but after we caught snickers again and put a  choke collar on him  instead our job began! We scrubbed him and hten sprayed him off with our  outside hose! And I think we are getting better at it, because even though he initially smelled worse he smelt better this time when we were done this last time. But we still weren't about to let him sleep in our room so we set up the bathroom for him again!

Then off we went to set the skunk trap again! We decided to put dog food in there instead of peanut butter, because that is what he seems to want! (snickers dog food!) Then shower and washing our clothes again and bedtime!

So this morning I got up before I brought snickers out and checked the trap! Sure enough the skunk had gotten in eaten the food and he must have had some fight with it because it was feet away from where we put the trap, but the skunk managed to get out! So we are hopeful if we try it again tonight and put a heavier rock on top so he can't move it around we may finally capture him!

more about the skunk..

so this morning I put snickers outside within a few minutes he was barking crazily at the trap we set for the skunk!  All excited thinking how quickly we got him! Well as it turned out we caught ourselves a raccoon, not a skunk! haha set him free and hopeful we will catch the skunk soon.

the skunk returns!

Well last time the skunk came in our yard again, we got away without getting sprayed last time! Snickers barked at the skunk which is how we even new he was there, but this time he didn't bark at all! So after the kids went to bed David and me were working on cleaning out the car and installing his new radio/cd player/GPS we got him for a smoking deal at wal-mart! Well I went inside for I don't remember now, and it smelled terribly like a skunk! I thought oh no smells like he sprayed close by! Well I tell David and he tells me to let snickers out of the backyard, so I went to get him and OH BOY did he smell like SKUNK!

So anticipating a quiet restful night didn't end up being that way, David called our landlord because he recalled her talking about a skunk trap she had, so he went over there to get it and she also gave us a solution that was suppose to help get rid of the smell. So last night around 8 or 8:30 our work began! We made the solution doused snickers with it and then I held him down while David sprayed him off with the house! Then a little later we did it again, then we did it again using his Dog shampoo! Needless to say by the end I was soaked from a little above the knees down and i'm pretty sure a lot of neighbors driving by were looking at us wondering what in the world we were doing!

Since it was so cold last night we took all the rugs and everything out of the bathroom and put his pillow water and food and stuck him in there while we showered and washed our clothes! He still stunk, but we weren't about to leave him out after we doused him in freezing cold water!

This morning there is no skunk in the trap but snickers still stinks, and i'm afraid so does our house! Although outside smells worse by our neighbors fence, we are wondering if he sprayed him through the fence and wasn't in our yard after all, but who knows! Until next time I guess...

Reminiscing

Well yesterday I went in my shed and pulled out a tote of Sophia's old new born outfits looking for warm outfits for little Trinity! Well its amazing how attached you can come to clothes that your kids will never where again! I could picture her in every outfit and there were some that were my favorites that I just couldn't give away! haha, well I guess since I want more kids I kept thinking well I liked it so much on Sophs I should keep it for the next (whether I have another girl or not). And others I like that I can give away easily, although I am pretty sure I loved all of Sophia's clothes! Little girl clothes are soo Cute!

Sophia was busy helping me look through them and I told that she use to wear these, and she goes "these", and then tries putting them on! It was really cute! Of course there is no way she could fit in them anymore, but we did put an old pj of hers on her "yot" (Dr Seuss character), and that seemed to make her pretty happy! I found her this morning cuddling with him in her crib!

skunk!

So last night we heard snickers barking, and he was in the backyard fenced in so I went out to let him out and bring him in only to realize I hear something behind me! So I let him out run up the stairs and see him run in the opposite direction, then I ran in to get David because snickers listens to him! Well we got him in and grabbed a flash light and sure enough there was a skunk right outside our house! How snickers and me didn't get sprayed when we were feet away from him is beyond me, but i'm very grateful I didn't!

Well the skunk was down stairs and the only way to get out and run away was come towards David, who was outside throwing rocks that way and shooting his b b gun his direction! We didn't hurt him but wanted to scare him enough that he wouldn't come back! Well after about 10 minutes of so of chucking rocks at him David came back in and we watched him with a flash light until he finally got enough courage to climb the stairs and run away! He was pretty small, but his tale was huge! Not sure how to tell how old skunks are, but I think he was pretty young. We still have no idea how he got where he was, if he fell 3 ft or so down or if he walked down the stairs, but glad none of us got sprayed and neither did our house!

Haha it made for a real adventurous night! Then after that we were worried to put snickers out to go to the bathroom before bed, but he didn't bark anymore that night and didn't get sprayed either, so it turned out to be fun!

Fall, Fall, Fall

Well today definitely has the feeling of fall! Cold wind! I think tonight we are going to light a fire in our fireplace! hmm... and it smells like cinnamon rolls in here! I made cinnamon rolls from scratch for my first time yesterday! Along with homemade soup! and today i've been busy going through Sophia and Charles closet, pulling out things that are too small, summer things and finding their winter things. Always a big job, and even though i've been cleaning all day I feel like my house is still messy! Funny how that works out!? Well part of it is that Sophia and Charles follow behind me "helping". haha I love when they help even though it makes it harder to get things done.

Sophia and Charles are always proud of themselves when they "help". Sophia is in such a copying stage right now! The other night at the dinner table, i'm not sure why but David bent down and was hitting ( or it looked like he was) his head on the table. Well within a few seconds Sophia was copying. We all started laughing so he did something else, and sure enough she did it too again! She has always seemed to copy us, but not as much as lately. Yesterday David was playing with snickers, and Sophia was busy pretending to be playing with an imaginary puppy like Daddy was! It was so cute!

Charles on the other hand seems to copy Sophs more then us! She taught him how to throw away their dirty diapers! haha he is so proud when we say good job Charles! He gets a big smile and claps for himself, just like Sophia does! It amazes me how much they enjoy each other! And yet lately even more so then normal they want what the other has. Like the other morning they were both drinking a juice bottle, and they both dropped theirs and went for each others, it made no sense, they both had the same thing but they didn't want the one they had. Then they were fine! Silly kids!

my cinnamon rolls, a few of them anyway, not the prettiest looking cinnamon rolls, but they taste good!
